OUR STORY
It All Started in 1977…
With a Lawnmower
Westcott & Associates was founded in 1977 by Jim Westcott in Dunwoody, Georgia.
After a successful career on the Insurance Carrier side of the business, he was convinced that he would make an excellent Agent. His first commercial client was his neighbor, a landscaper. According to Jim, he was living without much and ‘borrowed’ his neighbor’s lawnmower. By keeping the lawnmower hostage he was able to convince his first customer to purchase a policy protecting all of his equipment from theft and damage.
Kurt Schelhammer has advanced the business by taking over ownership and management of the company in 2020 after 20+ years at Jim’s side.
45+ years later, Westcott & Associates is still assisting commercial and personal clients with protecting what matters most to them.
